Cat Cow


Cat CowCat/Cow is a staple asana that warms and tones the entire spine, from neck to hips. The posture is performed on your hands and knees and introduces the idea of the union between body movement and breath; Cat Cow is normally used during warm up and cool down in our yoga flows and appears in virtually every flow.

Benefits: aids digestion, increases circulation, improves bowel function, stimulates the thyroid glands, relieves sciatica, low back back, tendonitis, increases spinal flexibility, opens hip joints, eases shouder tension

Drishti: in this pose it depends which phase of the stretch you are in at that moment; if your spine is rounded, your focus should be at your navel, if in neutral position, your focus should be forward and if your spine is arched, your focus should be upward

Contraindications: severe carpal tunell syndrome (please consult your health practitionner if you have carpel tunnel syndrome)

Counterpose: Child's Pose (Balasana)
